Live Blogs I'm Following (Since My Invitation Got Lost In the Mail)

  • iOS 5 AS A FREE UPDATE ON OCTOBER 12TH!
  • Pod touch - iMessage and iOS 5 with iCloud integration - also in white.  8GB for $199, $299 for 32 GB and $399 for 64 GB!
  • iPhone 4S - looks like iPhone 4 with A5 chip - not impressed with battery life.  But features listed (below) is enticing to consider upgrading.
  • Assistant!? "Will it rain in Cupertino" or "Do I need an umbrella today?" Both the same question, but different ways of asking.
  • iPhone 4S preorder October 7th - AT&T, Verizon, Sprint

I'm following the following live blogs:
Updates:
  • Sprint stock took a beating yesterday after the $20 billion deal with Appe but it's up 5% today so far.
  • Everyone is in - less than 5 min until Tim Cook rocks the world.
  • Apple CEO Tim Cook On the Stage!
  • Talking about new Apple stores...I'll probably skip stuff if it's not too important.
  • Macworld live blog is failing for me...you?
  • Not Apple related but NJ governor Chris Christie not running for prez - doesn't drink enough tea to the Tea Party's liking
  • Talked a bit about Lion and Macbook Air.
  • Holy crap...Macs achieved 23% share in August...frak..."77% of people buying something else. High ceiling..."
  • Now onto music.
  • 300 million iPods sold, 16 billion downloads, still a lot of people buying iPods - glad to hear this.  Classic lives on?
  • 93% Of Fortune 500 deployed iPhones.
  • iPad - helping kids learn in new ways - 95% satisfaction.
  • Apple stock barely budging so far.
  • 80% Of top US hospitals using iPads, helping pilots fly more efficiently, and great penetration of higher ed.
  • 250 million iOS devices sold. iPad is 3 of every 4 tablets sold in the US.
  • iOS 43% of installed base with Android at 33%, RIM 17%.  500K apps, 140K iPad apps.
  • Whopping $3 billion paid to developers.
  • Card app - $2.99 to mail in the US, $4.99 in the world.
  • Now, onto iOS 5.
  • iMessage - works over 3G.
  • Twitter, Newsstand, Youtube.
  • Talking about camera - nice improved features - home screen short cut allowing for faster access.
  • Gamecenter with 67 million accounts
  • Safari improvements - this is what I've been asking for.  Tab browsing and read it later.
  • iOS 5 as a free update on October 12th!
  • iTunes Match  - October 12th too!
  • iPod nano - $129 for 8GB and $149 for 16 GB - available today!
  • iPod touch - iMessage and iOS 5 with iCloud integration - also in white.  8GB for $199, $299 for 32 GB and $399 for 64 GB!
  • I guess no iPod touch with 6-7" screen for me.. :(
  • iPhone 4S - looks like iPhone 4 with A5 chip - not impressed with battery life.
    • 4S has new antenna design for faster download.
    • 4S - 8 hr 3G, 9 hours Wi-Fi browsing and 6 hrs 3G browsing, 10 hours of video, music 40 hours
    • 4S - world phone with both GSM and CDMA
    • 8MP camera with better light collection, 33% faster capture, 5 element captures, better low light capture.  With this, who needs a dedicated camera anymore?
    • Apple beats competitions to take first photo This could be reason to get iPhone 4S if need something faster. 1.1 sec to take first photo and 0.5 sec after that - up to 5 secs for competitors.  Galaxy S II 3.8 secs.
    • 1080p video capture - real time stabilization.
  • So far, all those case makers are wrong....so far...
  • Assistant!? "Will it rain in Cupertino" or "Do I need an umbrella today?" Both the same question, but different ways of asking.
  • Assistant (Siri), slightly better battery life, better camera - good enough for upgrade?
  • Siri seems to be doing it all and more - sending messages, directions, finding best restaurants, appts...very fluid. Demo is very impressive, cannot put into words.  Still, I want total voice control over the iPhone - including launching apps.
  • Apple stock tanking - investors not impressed with iOS 5, Siri, or iPhone 4S.
  • Dictation.  Learns your voice.
  • I wonder if Siri will make it onto the iPad 2.
