US Debt: McConnell's Debt-Plan Could Be An Out For Boehner

Is anyone following the debt ceiling issue?  Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell offered a back-up plan that would allow the debt-ceiling to be raised, avoiding a potential US default.

It's a very risk move for the GOP leader but it could be an out that GOP Speaker John Boehner painted himself into with the "no new taxes" bumper sticker pledge.  It would allow him and other GOP members accept a deal with Obama and to go back and explain to their constituents any deal they come up with was the best one they could get under the circumstances.

So, we'll have to see how this plays out - whether protecting the US economy and integrity is more important or the 2012 Presidential and general election both for sides.
