I Want Apple Pencil Support On The iPhone Pro But Will Apple Make It Happen One Day

Apple Pencil support on the new iPhone Duo was quite a surprise. All the other features, special hardwares, and even the form factor and dimensions were pretty much locked in and leaked.  But while I’ve been wondering and writing about the Apple Pencil support on the regular iPhone has been going on to years, I have gained renewed hope that with a new CEO at Apple, 

The reason I have hope that this willl likely happen mojo is not simple because users of the Duo can unfold the DUO and beginning wirtitn or drawing.  The main reason is that the Apple Pencil also supports the 5.4” external screen.  I don’t recall if that detail was revealed at the iPhone event but a couple of posts mentioned it and I verified it in Apple’s own press releases. 



While I was happy to see it, I have to wonder why and why now. The Duo is a tablet when it. Apple wants to make sure that all "iPads" support the Apple Pencil. That makes sense. Now, that does sound like it is simplifying things, doesn't it? I think there is more. Supposedly, Samsung removed it. This provides Apple a competitive advantage over the Fold from Samsung. Other brands, particularly the Chinese ones, also support their own stylus like input, which would have put Apple at a competitive advantage. By adding Apple Pencil to the Duo, it puts Apple in the pole position when it comes to showing the industry how to do foldable phones the right away as much YouTubers and tech analysts suggest.

My next question is why is the Apple Pencil support is also available on the 5.4" screen. That was one of the biggest surprises about the Duo. The mobile warrior in me wants there to be a future in which Apple finally brings Apple Pencil support over to the other iPhones. I asked Siri why Apple is doing this now. I mean who else should I be asking about this right?

Well, Siri AI suggests quick access, continuity between the outer screen and inner screen that allows the user to create quick notes, and one-hand use. Other than the two screens, everything Siri mentioned applies to Apple Pencil use on the iPhones and iPads. 

Still, the basic reason is probably this one: Apple already include the digitizer in the iPhone Duo and supporting the Apple Pencil on the 5.4" screen is probably a lot easier than including the digitizer on the iPhone.

So for now, if I want to use the Apple Pencil on the iPhone, I would need to get the Duo. However, I am optimistic that when Apple releases an iPhone Specific pencil, it would make sense for Apple to bring the support to the iPhone. If not all the iPhones, perhaps the iPhone Pro Max given it has a bigger form factor.

Google Contact Lenses, Apple’s Vision Pro, And The Future of AR in Glasses

 We can walk and chew gum at the same time. But how about watching a video while doing yard work, during a meeting you don’t want to be at, or, ahem, school?
